Studio Workshop Program

The Studio Workshop Program is an initiative by Bethel Arts and area property owners to provide active, creative spaces in downtown Bethel for artists and the community. The studio workshop will also promote economic development and help to stimulate downtown Bethel, and will consist of an artist studio, gallery and classroom.

Goals of Program
For the creative community, the program provides a no-cost, short-term studio and gallery space in a downtown storefront.

For the property owners, the studio workshop will highlight their available space and develop long-term lease prospects.

For local businesses, the studio workshops will attract residents and visitors into the area, making it a destination to shop, eat and experience the culture an art studio brings.

For the community, the studio workshop will provide a space from which various community-directed events and classes will emanate.

Extended Classroom Program- Internship/Apprentice

Bethel Arts will offer accredited internships to high school students. The students will serve as apprentices for local professional artists, assist them and help maintain the studio workshop space, as well as pursue their own projects.

The student-apprentice will learn new techniques and receive different perspectives about art, allowing them to expand and refine their vision and technique.

The student-apprentice will also promote her art at the Studio Workshop art gallery and participate in other events, including gallery showings, art walks, and the installation of a student-created public art piece, that will emanate from the Studio Workshop program sponsored by Bethel Arts.

Public Art Program

Bethel Arts will provide locations for artists to display artwork within the town. Locations may include the windows of vacant properties and Town Hall.
